In light of what’s occurring around the globe, we thought it was important to let you know how the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has impacted programming at The Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation.
We acknowledge isolation and anxiety, coupled with fear of the unknown, is part of what most young adults manage during and after treatment…add COVID-19 and a quarantine and you’ve created the perfect storm. The Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation remains committed to serving young adults by helping them get to programs that will lessen those feelings. Outdoor adventure is part of healing and empowerment, while being in a community of peers is good for the soul. We look forward to getting back to business as usual hosting Base2Summit, booking flights for travel assistance, and distributing information bags. Until then, here’s what happening:
At this time, we are continuing to plan Base2Summit for later this summer. This incredible week of wellness, adventure, and connection on Elk Lake in Northern Michigan from August 23-28 is considered our most impactful program. We are excited to move the process along and start filling up the house, but we are respectful of the unique situation in which COVID-19 has put us all. While the country practices social distancing, we have hit the brakes but as soon as we get the green light, it’s full steam ahead! If you’re interested in participating click here to begin the application process.
If you have applied and have been accepted to a survivorship program for the fall and are interested in travel assistance fill out an application here. We will not be purchasing any flights until all restrictions for travel are lifted and programs are back up and running. We will connect with you as soon as that happens to begin flight arrangements.
Information bags are normally at all Michigan hospitals and treatment centers. Respecting that hospitals are limiting all non-emergency visits, we have not replenished their inventories. If you or someone you know would benefit from an information bag, we would be happy to mail one.

If you have specific questions feel free to email info@chscf.org or for Base2Summit questions, camp@chscf.org.
God bless and stay safe,
